A camper in camp Chayolei Hamelech (a.k.a Summer Recreation for Children Inc.) was playing with fire, when a staff member intervened (trying to take out the fire) and sustained second and third degree burns to his hand (his whole hand was burnt).
The staff member is currently in the city, he must see Dr. Rosen everyday to change his bandages.

a staff member!
Please give more info.
a kid tripped on a twig and made a bubu!!! r u that bored that all u do is write these blown storys go get a life and a job!!!!!
The above is not information. What it is, is a lash out of anger. It’s also not a denial that something indeed happened. Thanks for the confirmation.
What else your comment tells me us,
1. Something did happen.
2. Like the murder, you would like it to go unnoticed.
3. Your angry that I’m trying to expose the truth about what happened (in fact your angry that I even exist).
4. That all day your checking this site, instead of doing your job. (which Ill assume in running the camp blog and playing computer games).
It was a kid in bunk bais who got a little too close to the goodbye bonfire and some how got sprayed with lighter fluid.
If i heard correctly, his name was Gansburg.
Wow!!!
What dedicated staff!!!
Does the camp have insurance for such things?
I know last year a camper broke his leg in camp
Chayolei Hamelech (a.k.a Summer Recreation for Children Inc.) and the camp had no insurance for him.
The campers name is Levertov.
Yankle Spritzer the millionaire, who spent so much money on taking other Jews to court on a viscous Mesira, who made so much money on insurance scams with the camp (burning houses and trees falling on bunks etc..etc…), begged the campers father to have Rachmonise on the camp, because of the poor children etc… etc… Yankle Spritzer who spends and waist so much money on stupidity could not dish out some money to pay for this kids doctor.
Of-course Spritzer made it about the “poor kids”, “please don’t make a issue out of this, I won’t pay a thing, but you be quit because the kids will loss out if this gets out”.
How pathetic!!!
Really???
If there was Takka “dedicated staff” then this situation would not have happened to begin with.
The impression that I’m getting or better yet the reality is (from this year and all years past) that the kids are left alone, unintended much to often. Campers are to be supervised at ALL times of the day. There is no reason that a camper should even have a second to play with fire. Etc..Etc…
What this Staff member did was stupid (he may have had good intentions, but still stupid).
He should have just gotten the camper away from danger.
Things can always be replaced, body limbs can’t. What good is a dead hero?
Exit question:
How did it even come to this situation: why aren’t the kids (and even staff*) being supervised at all times?
*the staff being kids themselves (16-17-18).
Working in CGI for many years, There is not even a moment that the campers and staff are not supervised.
The change that something like this can happen is 1 in a hundred.
The Children are so busy all the time, they don’t have a change to even thing about making trouble.
Come on, get real!!!
Kids actually died in other camps (yes, yours included).
So stop making issues out of tissues!
Yes, its true kids have died in other camps and even in Gan Israel ( I saw in CGI Montreal in ’94 how they pulled a blue child out of the lake).
But its also true that this was many years ago and since then many things have changed in many aspects of camp, especially when it come to safety.
Yes, even when I was a camper in CGI (N.Y. and Montreal) many years ago, we (if we wanted) had many opportunity’s to make trouble or get in to trouble (and we did). But thing changed big time since.
We must learn from past mistakes. And Yes, when it comes to Safety every issue (even tissues) is taken seriously.
For some reason this camp Chayolei Hamelech (a.k.a Summer Recreation for Children Inc.) seems to have year after year (under Spritzers management) one “issue” after the other. All the miracles seem to happen there.
Please, you want to have a care free attitude, do it with your own children, not mine or anybody else!

I guess you forgot to point out the van that flipped in 2003; the boats which caught fire in 2006 (with people on board) from an exploding propane canister; or the incident just last year, with the bus. To name a few…
To Emes(?):
whats your point?
how are you trying to compeer these (the van, boat etc…) to what happened (now and in the past), in Sprizers camp?
Emes, you are right again.
If a van flipped over again and again in the SAME camp, summer after summer, then we would have to look in to it. Why is it happening in this camp etc…
If a a camp or company had boats getting on fire all the time, that is cause for an investigation. If they can’t get it together (fix the problem), then they would and should be shut down!
ETC…ETC…
When a kids g-d forbid drowns, you investigate how it happened and you do all you can to make sure it never happens again.
Again and again, Summer after summer we hear these stories of campers and staff getting injured in camp Chayolei Hamelech (under Spritzers management), all because there is not proper supervision.
Someone asked me (a while back),
“who goes to Spritzers camp?”
I replied:
All the rejects that do not get in to other camps, being “special” kids that need special attention.
So he says..
“Thats great, we need a camp like that, where else would these kids go?”
I answered…
True, we do need a camp like that, but a camp like that needs good trained staff, not reject staff that could not get in to another camp (and have no choose so they go to Spritzers camp). Having these “staff” in charge of Special needs children in a disaster waiting to happen”.
He agreed.
